25 Jun Hidden Pond
This rustically chic Kennebunkport resort has grasped ahold of our hearts since Matt & I first visited in 2012. We loved it so much that we decided to have our wedding there exactly one year later. We have continued to go back every year since.
Hidden Pond is located just a short ten minute drive from the center of town, tucked away on 60 acres of tall Maine birch & evergreen. Only a short mile from the salty sands of the Atlantic you can really have the best of both worlds- that woodsy summer camp experience and Maine beach experience. As you drive down the long driveway entering the property you can not help take in natures scents of evergreen & sea air. The sign greets you ” Drive Slow, Breathe Deeply” and you feel all of your daily stresses beginning to release.
The Accommodations
This luxury resort offers twenty designer one bedroom bungalows as well as sixteen two bedroom cottages. The luxurious neutral interiors are so cozy you will never want to leave your bungalow. The private bungalows are the perfect romantic retreat for couples looking to get-away for a long weekend. The bungalows are set back on the property with their own adults only Serenity Salt Water Pool. At night, you can hear the sounds of the pond frogs and smell the woodsy aroma of Maine. Whether you choose a bungalow or cottage, all include a screened patio with a day bed to enjoy a long afternoon nap. The outdoor shower, oversized gas fireplaces and Frette linens & robes are also some of the great amenities that are included.

2 Bedroom Cottage
When we visit now you will find us in a two bedroom cottage. These cottages are ideal for families traveling with children. These larger cottages are situated on the property near the main lodge with all of the conveniences for families. Each cottage comes with a full size kitchen which we find comes in very handy with children. With easy access to the family pool and the bonfire pit, kids find themselves in summer camp heaven. The location of these cottages is also closest to the fitness area, the gardens, the art studio as well as the lodge bar.

Dining at Hidden Pond
Be sure to make an advanced reservation at Hidden Pond’s restaurant, Earth. The ambience and vibe is very ‘earthy trendy’ and is a great night out for a date or dinner with friends. The restaurant is located right on the pond amongst the vegetable and herb gardens. Many of the ingredients in your dinner will be pulled directly from the garden. Hidden Pond also offers alfresco dining at their Farm Bar which has the Serenity Pool as a beautiful back drop. Matt and I like to go early and grab a couple seats at the bar when our favorite bartender, Josh is working. The menu is seasonal and does change often but we typically like to get a few of the apps to share including the Margherita pizza and a Treeline cocktail (shown below… which I have heard is George Bush’s favorite as well).
Hidden Pond offers a ‘ Room Service’ option for breakfast and dinner. A limited version of Earth’s menu is available for dinner as well as a children’s menu. Breakfast baskets filled with homemade pastries, local coffee and a newspaper will arrive at your doorstep daily by 8am. This is included in your stay.

Activities at Hidden Pond
When planning your stay, be sure to allow yourself enough down time to embrace all that the resort has to offer. There are plenty of activities and ways to relax which makes it easy to forget you are in the cutest seaside town. Enjoy one of the two pools where you can sit back, read a book, sip a cocktail, order a lobster roll and just unwind in a cabana. There are also beach cruisers available for your use. Hop on and head down to the beach or simply cruise around the property. Golf carts also available by request.

Hidden Pond With Kids
Just when we thought we couldn’t love Hidden Pond any more, we experienced it as a family after Pippa was born. Hidden Pond is one of two family friendly Kennebunkport Resort Collection Hotels. There are plenty of activities the resort will provide for your children. Bikes are always available for children of all ages. The Hidden Pond gardens are fun for adults as well as the kids to go and play a fun game of hide and seek or pick a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the cottage. Camp games, table-tennis, board games, and a sandy fire pit with nightly baskets of ‘smores alongside live music all make for such a fun experience for our favorite little people. Parents, if you are looking for a nice night out just the two of you, inquire within for the Hidden Pond nanny care. The nannies can come to your cottage or meet your kids for activities, whatever you may choose.
